Planetfall – Invasion is an expansion to the brilliant 4x turn by turn strategy game and is part of the successful Age of Wonders series. Paradox asked Brokendoll to craft the full campaign for the launch of this Space Lizard rich expansion.
Concept Development
Armed with the game pillars and marking objectives our first task was to create the overall campaign concepts, draft a script and pen some storyboards. Our goal was to balance the fine line between satisfyingly irony and hard core sci-fi awesomeness.
The end result
Hitting the Mark
Our goal is always to make a trailer that just feels right for the game. That means striking the right balance in editing, tone of voice, tempo and visual fidelity. It needs to look great and sound great but it also needs to authentically reflect the aesthetic of the game.
For this global campaign we worked with King’s in house creative studio to develop the concept and script before successfully pitching it to the Marketing department.
Working with the best
We edited and on-lined in-house at Brokendoll but for the photo realistic visual effects we teamed up with the talented peeps at Swiss. The entire environment for this spot is CG. Extra care was needed in the pre-production in terms of storyboarding and animatics to ensure we knew exactly what we needed from every shot.
Bloodhunt is a Battle Royale set in the Vampire The Masquerade universe. The slick cobblestones and rooftops of modern day Prague provide the backdrop. The team at Sharkmob reached out to Brokendoll to create the abstract opening cinematic and to bring their Blood Flow identity to life in motion.
Concept Development
We set out to weave stunning scenery, cool characters and awesome action together through the blood flow visual expression into a powerful intro that is not only great but also bears repeated viewing.
Concept Development
We have always found the best possible results come from a seamless combination of live action elements and CG combined in unusual ways. For this production we combined high quality digital assets from the game world with Houdini simulations and a selection of custom filmed live action elements such as dust smoke ink and splashes.
Beyond the Intro
Our goal is always to make a trailer that just feels right for the game. That means striking the right balance in editing, tone of voice, tempo and visual fidelity. It needs to look great and sound great but it also needs to authentically reflect the aesthetic of the game.
CK3 was the much anticipated sequel to, unsurprisingly CK2. We had the please of orchestrating the brand strategy, visual identity and launch campaign. All in all it was a smash hit. CK3 blew through its sales targets and hit Nr 1 on the Steam Store. Take a peek at the video below to get a feel for the breadth and depth of our work this fantastic franchise.
Going the Distance
Nothing is quite as satisfying as building a new brand from the ground up, releasing it into the wild and watching it soar.
Market Research & Brand Strategy
The first step in creating a great campaign is knowing your audience. The Launch ion crusader Kings 3 was a major milestone for PDS so we needed to be sure that we were on the right track. So together with our Partners at POST STHLM we did focus groups, and research that resulted in the development of market segmentations and 4 unique personas that were used to define the brand strategy.
Brand Development
With the brand strategy in hand the next step was to develop a whole new visual identity for Crusader Kings that could support future development and improve functionality across all media. The goal for the new brand involved the development of a completely new logo with accompanying wordmark and iconography and we also commissioned a brand new typeface for use in game and in communications.
